Department of Economics at a Glance 

The Department of Economics is one of the eight departments of Mahapurush Hadidas Mahavidyalaya, Chhatia since its establishment in 1978. At the initial stage, the Department had to be confined to the teaching of Economics subject in I.A stage and later in B.A pass course only. Honours teaching facility was introduced in the Department since 2003-2004 academic session. Since its inception, the department has been imparting quality education to the students of the locality.

The Department organizes seminars, workshops, field visit, industrial visit, academic visit etc., from time to time. The Department with the financial assistance from UGC organized a National Level Seminar on “Technology as a Catalyst for Rural Development in India” in 2013 and a National Level Workshop on “Research and Data Analysis (SPSS) in 2015. It takes special care to the slow learners by providing extra remedial classes. The Department has a glorious history of producing a number of graduates who have established themselves in various walks of life, while many others are pursuing higher studies.

The Department has a collection of about 100 books and 03 journals. Besides, the college library is used to serve the purpose of ready reference for the teachers and students of the department and books are also issued to students on their request. For the improvement and encouragement of the students, the department keep award system (cash prizes) to the students who secured marks more than 60 percent and above in Economics subject in +2 Final Examination and +3 Final Examination.
